General
   A. At all times and under all circumstances, patients may expect to receive considerate, respectful care and to be treated with regard for their personal dignity.

   B. Patients are not subjected to any treatment/procedure without voluntary, competent and knowledgeable consent, or that of a legally authorized representative.

   C. To assure that a patient is able to make a reasonably well-informed decision, they must be provided with a clear, concise explanation of their condition and be given all information regarding intended technical procedures.

  • All patients are made aware of any risk of mortality, the possibility of any serious side effects, problems related to recuperation, and the probability of the success of the procedure.
  • Patients are informed of any medically significant alternatives for care or treatment.

   D. Patients have the right to choose whether or not to participate in training programs, the gathering of data for research purposes, of other research and educational projects.

   E. Patients, or their legally authorized representative, shall have the right to refuse treatment to the extent permitted by law. When this refusal prevents the provision of appropriate care in accordance with Medica Stand-Up MRI of Atlanta standards and the standards of the health professional involved, the relationship with the patient may be terminated upon reasonable notice.

   F. It is the responsibility of all staff members to see that all patients are accorded their rights as outlined in patient’s bill of rights. (See attached)

Patient’s Responsibilities
  A.The patient must provide, to the best of their knowledge, accurate and complete information regarding all matters relating to their health care, including:
  • Nature of present complaint.
  • Past illnesses/hospitalizations.
  • Medications
  • Unexpected changes in condition.
  B. A patient is responsible to make known whether or not he/she clearly understands the contemplated course of medical treatment and the patient role in that treatment.

  C. The patient is responsible to follow established rules and regulations especially as they affect patient care. This responsibility includes consideration for the rights and respect for the property of other patients and personnel.
